Army Nails

Hi everyone, I have an exam tomorrow, which I haven't finished preparing for so just a quick update today.

Yesterday, I stumbled onto this youtube tutorial on Army Camo nails and liked it so much that I decided to give it a try. It may also be because I had to skip halloween and stay in to study that I decided to dress up my nails to celebrate instead.

Anyway, on to the result!

I used 2 coats of Essie Sew Psyched as the base color. I then used a dotting tool to draw on the black.

Then, using the same technique with the dotting tool, I drew on random patterns using Essie Merino Cool and Chinchilly for the other colors. Part of the reason why I decided to do army nails is because of these colors that I was wearing previously.

Finally, I topped everything off with 1 coat of Essie Matte About You to achieve that matte look that is more suitable for the army theme. Clearly, I did not wait long enough for the polish to dry because I smeared some of the black.

The smudges really annoy me but I don't have the time to try to perfect it so I'm forced to live with it.

So here is the finished product. I hope you enjoyed this manicure. Thanks for reading! ❤

Skittling

Hi guys, today I decided to try a skittle manicure with some grayed out tones that I have. Here is the effect:

From left to right, I used: OPI Tickle My France-y, Essie Merino Cool, Essie Chinchilly and Essie Sew-psyched.

These were 2 coats each and 1 coat of Essie's Good to Go topcoat for the extra glossy effect.

I was pleasantly surprised to see how well the colors mesh together even though they are quite different. Despite the difference, they are actually quite cohesive.

What do you think of this mani? Would you try skittling?

Well, that's it for now! Thanks for reading! ❤

Pinstripes

Hey guys! I've been posting less and less because my finals are drawing closer. So please forgive me and wish me luck! :)

The design that I have here today was sort of spontaneous and wasn't something that was planned. I get bored of my manicures quite quickly and so, I tend to add stuff to it everyday.

I was wearing Models Own Beth's Blue as my base. I apologize for the sloppy application because the formula for this polish was quite thick and wasn't as easy to work with.

I then added one stroke of Chanel's Nouvelle Vague over half of the nail for the contrasting green.

Next, I added the white pin stripes with Sally Hansen's Nail Art pen. You could also do this with a striper brush and some white polish but I find the pens easier to use since I always lose control of the brush when I reach the curved parts of my nail.

And there you have it. A sweet and simple striped manicure that you can jazz up with other contrasting colors :)

Hope you enjoyed this post and thanks for reading! ❤

Laura Ashley-ish

So today, I have on a manicure that I've been seeing around, first from JQ at Frippery Digits and then from Trincess at Emerald Sparkled.

It's a really pretty wallpaper/bed sheet sort of design with roses. I chose this color scheme because I've seen some Laura Ashley bed sheet covers with this sort of design and I really adore it.

I used 2 coats of Chanel's Nouvelle Vague as my base coat.

Then using the toothpick swirl technique, I created the roses using OPI Mod About You and Chapel of Love with a dotting tool. For more details head on to Frippery Digits as she linked a very helpful youtube clip demonstrating this technique.

Then I used China Glaze Refresh Mint for the leaves with a small nail art brush. Et voila!

Hope you enjoyed this mani. Thanks for reading! ❤

OPI DS Glamour

Another holographic polish! I just really love them! I think they're my favorite type of finish :)

Everyone's probably heard of OPI DS Glamour before, everyone's raved about it. Nothing much that isn't already said, but boy is this a beauty.

2 coats - superb application, quick drying time. Same review that was given to DS Elegance previously. I'm very impressed with quality of OPI DS polishes thus far.

Without top coat - look at how glossy it looks.

And when the sun hits it. Holooo <3

More pictures for illustrative purposes.

No mislabelling here!

Not a very wordy post because there's not much to say, except that I absolutely love this polish. Thanks for reading! ❤

OPI DS Elegance

When I saw this polish, I sort of knew I had to have it. This VHTF polish cost me quite a penny on eBay but it was worth it! I think this has to be my favorite polish of all time.

So without further ado, here is OPI DS Elegance.

This was 3 coats of the rose pink holographic polish. Application was superb and it dried in no time! I guess that's OPI Designer Series quality for you.

Under indirect light, as with most holographic polishes, the sparklies just appear white.

But when it catches direct light, the holographic quality becomes more obvious. I couldn't stop staring at my nails and moving them around when the sun beams hit it. It makes me so happy :D

The strange thing is, though, that the label on this bottle does not say DS Elegance. It says DS Exclusive, but I know for a fact that DS Exclusive is a darker, hot pink.

But the label does indicate that it's meant to be released in Japan. And I've read that there Japan's version is different. Nevertheless, the color is the same as DS Elegance, so I'll just ignore the label, hehe.

Thanks for reading and have a nice day! ❤

2nite

Hello! The last week has been madness! I had a major assignment due and the weekend just depleted all my energy to do anything at all. Well anyway, on to nail polish!

China Glaze 2nite is a pretty pale 'periwinkle' blue holo.

This was 2 coats to cover up any bald spots. I had experienced some drag, unlike for China Glaze IDK but I think their formula isn't too far apart. Perhaps it was just my application.

How it looks like near the sun. The flashes of holo isn't as obvious as say, Nfu Ohs, but it is quite pronounced when the light hits it.

This is the effect when softer light hits it, there's a slight rainbow effect. Purdeeeyyy.

And with flash. I just love me a good holo. Who doesn't?

Until next time, thanks for reading! ❤
